Over the last couple of days it really has felt like spring is in the air… and it’s about time! From the comments that we’ve received on LoveTheGarden I know I’m not the only frustrated gardener out there itching to get started for the growing season ahead.

So this weekend I sedated my gardening appetite with a trip to RHS Wisley. Although it’s been reported that many plants are flowering 2 or 3 weeks later than usual (I’m not sure exactly what ‘usual’ is) it certainly benefited me this weekend as the recent warmer weather has encouraged snowdrops, crocus and cyclamen to burst into bloom and peak at exactly the same time. Some of the colour contrasts were truly stunning making it an enchanting place to visit.

But if it’s a taste of summer that you’re after, then the glasshouse doesn’t disappoint. It’s the home to hundreds of beautiful orchids including hybrids of the popular Phalaenopsis, Cymbidium and Oncidium varieties. Maybe you’ll get inspired to try growing orchids at home. I’m always surprised by how many orchids are more than at home on a windowsill or conservatory.

Can’t wait for Spring to fully come so we can start to enjoy the garden. Our landlord says he is going to buy us some gardening furniture, so plenty BBQs to come.
