Potty about potatoes - a recipe blog competition
Calling all bloggers! How do you fancy winning a £200 meal at a restaurant of your choice? We’re inviting people to enter our vegetable garden competition and tell us their best potato recipe. Here’s how to enter:
- Post your potato recipe on your blog.
- Tell us by emailing us.
- Our readers will then vote to pick the best recipe.
In February, we launched our brand new LoveTheGarden competition to find the best recipes for our most popular garden vegetables. We kicked off with the cabbage – the response was amazing, with some delicious, mouth-watering recipes sent in to us by culinary creatives all over the country, who appreciate the subtler pleasures of the cabbage.
Thank you to everyone that entered the last competition. The winner was Karolina with her Cabbage & Mushroom Pasties. She chose to eat at Tom Kitchin’s famous restaurant ‘The Kitchin’ in Edinburgh.
Now we’re offering you all another chance to impress us with your culinary expertise and creativity in the kitchen. This time the focus is on that most staple of British vegetables: the potato.
We’re all familiar with the simple spud – this South American import has formed the basis of our diet for hundreds of years and there is a wealth of recipes for everything, from baby new potatoes right through to main crop varieties like Maris Piper. Each type of potato has its own unique flavour and texture – some are flowery and perfect for roasting, while others have a more waxy texture and lend themselves perfectly to boiling. If this competition gives you green fingers, visit our growing vegetables page for more information on how to get started.
Even if you’re a first-time blogger, you can enter the competition and be in with a chance of winning. Readers of the LoveTheGarden.com blog will then be able to visit your blog and vote for the recipe they like the most. The deadline for entries is 16th August 2011 and the prize is another meal for two up to the value of £200 at a restaurant of your choice, anywhere in the country.
So why not get blogging and let’s celebrate the great British potato in style!
