Meet Our Forum Moderators: Simon

Simon Simon, 32, a Consumer Services Advisor for The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, developed his passion for gardening at a young age when he started growing tomatoes in his grandfather’s greenhouse. He has always loved gardening, and the great outdoors, so he can regularly be found tending to his vegetable patch, planting ornamentals and caring for his lawn.

Over the last 17 years Simon has gained a wealth of experience working within the horticultural industry, he’s managed garden centres in the South East and even picked strawberries for Wimbledon! As a keen plant photographer he’s a frequent visitor of the gardens at RHS Wisley to try and capture the perfect shot. He has a vast collection of plant portraits and would love to be an 18th Century Plant Collector... using modern technology.

Simon’s favourite area of his garden is his lawn and he prides himself on the lush, green weed-free grass and the perfect stripes up and down the garden. His trusty Scotts spreader is never far away!

Simon’s Top Tips:

Tip 1: If you are not applying lawn feed, then watering your lawn after mowing is always a good idea. This helps to keep the grass lush and clean and encourage fresh and healthy growth.

Tip 2: If you want a perfect green lawn, with little work, why not use the Scotts Lawn Builder Lawn Food. This product has a slow release formula and can feed for up to eight weeks... giving you a sward to be proud of!

Tip 3: Come autumn time, why rake up the fallen leaves? Mowing them will add nutrients to the roots of the grass and will encourage healthy turf next year. Moss is always prevalent in the autumn so apply feed and mosskiller, such as EverGreen Autumn, to help deal with the pernicious pest.
