Planting bulbs, corms and tubers
Daffodil, tulip, crocus, lily, potato and dahlia all fall into this category. They are all swollen parts of roots and stems which when planted will grow a new plant. Spring flowering bulbs need to be planted in Autumn. Mix an organic rich compost into the soil and enrich with a special plant food such as Miracle-Gro Bulb Booster.
Follow the instructions on the packing for the right depth and space apart. There is such a wide variation of instructions they are impossible to generalise here.
