Step 1
Purchase your seed potatoes at the garden centre from January onwards and ‘chit’ (allow to shoot) by storing in a cool, light place for a few weeks until the first shoots reach about 2.5cm long.
Step 2
February to March: Place your Miracle-Gro Gro Your Own gro-sac for potatoes and root vegetables in a sunny, frost-free spot in your garden or on your patio or balcony.
Step 3
Shake the Miracle-Gro Gro Your Own gro-sac for potatoes and root vegetables to loosen the compost, cut along the top of the bag to create an opening, and puncture four drainage holes where indicated.
Step 4
Roll down the top of the gro-sac as indicated on the bag, then carefully push up to five seed potatoes about 15cm deep and leave to grow. Water whenever the compost feels dry.
Step 5
February to July: In separate Miracle-Gro gro-sacs, try growing other veg such as leeks, carrots, parsnips or shallots, simply follow the on-pack instructions. You could also plant pots of herbs nearby so you can pick your rosemary, thyme or sage as you harvest the veg for your organic Sunday roast.
Step 6
Each Miracle-Gro gro-sac contains enough plant food to nourish your veg for six weeks, after that use Miracle-Gro Gro Your Own Vegetable & Fruit Concentrated Liquid Plant Food every two weeks.
June to October: It’s time to harvest your crops and enjoy the fruits of your labours.
