Bud Blast

Description
A fungus disease spread by rhododendron Leaf Hopper which lay their eggs on the flower buds of these plants.
Symptoms
Buds of rhododendron turn silvery in colour and show black bristles before falling off.
Treatment and control
General tips
Pick off any affected buds and dispose of in the dustbin.
Spray with a general insecticide
Keep plants free of leafhopper by spraying regularly with a bifenthrin based product when the adults are egg laying from July to October.
Always read the label. Use pesticides safely.
