Getting the results you want when seeding your lawn can be a challenge, especially in tough areas such as harsh sun, dense shade and trampled lawns. That’s why Miracle-Gro created Patch Magic. This award winning product has a revolutionary combination of grass seed, Miracle-Gro Plant Food and coir that actually expands to surround and protect the seed.
To repair a patch in your lawn remove the dead grass and loosen the soil with a garden rake. Apply 3mm of Patch Magic over bare patches, or 1.5mm over thin areas of grass. Water in until it turns dark brown and begins to expand. The unique compressed coir material absorbs water like a sponge, expanding instantly and changing colour to show it is surrounding each seed in a dark, moist, protective layer. It continues to care for the seeds, providing them with nutrients and holding water right next to the seed. This improves establishment offering a patching mix that really works.
As a result, Miracle-Gro Patch Magic promises 50% thicker grass with just half the water. Best of all, the protective coir layer changes colour when it dries out so you know exactly when the Patch Magic grass seedlings needs more water.

Do I need to water it in? open/close
If rain isn’t forecasted then you’ll need to water it in. The coir will immediately expand and encourage germination of the seed. Water again when the Patch Magic turns a lighter brown.
I have lots of patches in my lawn, can I refill my shaker jar? open/close
Yes, you can buy Patch Magic in pouches and refill your shaker jar. A 1.5kg pouch will treat 20 patches and a 3.6kg pouch will treat 48 patches.
What type of grass seed is used in the mixture? open/close
It contains a high quality, non agricultural, grass seed mix of dwarf perennial rye grass and fine fescues.
Can I apply fertiliser after using Patch Magic? open/close
Patch Magic contains enough Miracle-Gro Plant Food to produce strong roots and aid establishment of the seed. It is not recommended to apply most fertilisers onto new or unestablished grass.
When should I used Patch Magic? open/close
Anytime between March and September when conditions are favourable. Do not use if there’s a risk of frost as this could damage new grass.
Is it safe to use if I have children and/or pets? open/close
Children and pets need not be excluded from treated areas.
How quickly will it germinate? open/close
Usually germination will happen between 5 – 14 days. During colder periods visible germination may take longer.
