How to create a contemporary and low maintenance front garden

Transform the dullest of driveways into a sensational but low maintenance showstopper with this season’s favourite shades of lime green, purple, black and shocking pink. Many front gardens are used for extra parking space, but before you swap your bleak and abandoned borders for block paving or all-over gravel, why not try re-inventing them instead? Just a simple and stylish flowerbed coupled with a few striking planters will not only look fantastic, but it will also help improve water drainage compared to a completely paved over space.

1. January – December: Shape-up your existing border by treating weeds with Weedol Gun! MAX. Simply spray over them using the hand-held 1 litre Gun, which shows visible results in just one hour.

2. Use Pathclear Gun! Moss & Algae Killer to kill moss on hard surfaces. Try Pathclear Gun! Weedkiller to kill any weeds from gravel paths or drives. A quick spray of this wonder product will kill weeds and prevent them reappearing for up to three months.

3. Once the weed killer is dry, enrich the soil in the borders with Miracle-Gro Organic Choice Premium Garden Soil.

4. Plant the border using tall grasses such as feather reed and black mondo at the back, and use bright pink flowers and dark leaved plants at the front.

5. Next, feed with Miracle-Gro Slow Release All Purpose Plant Food. With both a ‘scoop’ and a ‘shaker’ option, it’s easy to apply and one application feeds for up to six months.

6. Spread some Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Natural Pine Bark over the remaining surface of the soil to reduce weed growth and to maintain a clean line to the border.
