If you fancy giving gro-your-own a go but don’t think you have the outside space to spare, or the know-how to get started then think again!

By creating a raised bed, you can make growing delicious fruit and vegetables much easier. They’re simple to maintain, can produce masses of crops in a small space and it’s easy to make them a really attractive feature of your garden.

Ingredients

1. Decide where you’re going to start your vegetable patch. Any unused corner of your garden will do as long as it is not in deep shade.

2. Look at your space and think about how many raised beds you need. You can make your own raised beds or the easiest solution is to buy a pre-made kit from your local garden centre.

3. Once your raised bed is in position, break up the soil surface and fill with a mixture of garden soil and Miracle-Gro Gro Your Own Fruit & Vegetable Soil Improver. This has been specially formulated to improve all types of soils. It also contains organic plant food to provide your plants with the essential nutrients they need.

4. Now you’re ready to get planting. Choose a selection of fruit and vegetables
that you enjoy eating and plant as per the on-pack instructions.

5. The Soil Improver will keep all plants fed for up to six weeks, but after that you’ll need to give them a top up with Miracle-Gro Fruit & Vegetable Plant Food.

…in no time at all you’ll be harvesting your own tasty home-grown fruit and vegetables!

Top tip

Don’t forget flowers! Marigolds planted in amongst vegetables will help ward off pests and attract beneficial insects, while nasturtiums will make your plants look attractive and you can eat the flowers in salads.
