Pruning and propagating clematis-Josephine and Rebecca

Asked 1 year 5 months ago by BertieandGeorge

Last year I bought two clematis Josephine and Rebecca-they had magnificent flowers on them. I potted them into pots about 12' diameter and 15" deep. They have now started to shoot again, and I want to make sure that a. I get the same large sized flowers on them, and b. I propogate them successfully so that I have a few more.

Please could you advise re pruning and how I deal with the compost (eg do I repot in fresh compost, top dress with a few inches of compost or leave and just feed with soluble feed. I find pruning instructions for clematis quite confusing.

Also, please could you advise as to how I can propagate with the best chances of success.

Thanks

Bertie and George
