What is the ph of Levingtons mutipurpose compost?

I would expect the ph of a multipurpose compost to be neutral, around 6.5, but found some to be lower. Westland is 5.5 to 6.0 for instance.

Compost ph

Thank you, Vicky. I will be growing potatoes in bags next year and wanted to give them the best conditions for growth. A ph of around 5.8 is what I'm aiming for.

pH

No you wouldn't want neutral compost - very few plants like that pH and nutrients are not available to be taken up.

For a MPC you want 5.5 - 6.5 , ericaceous should be around 4.5 - 5.5.

Hope that helps
