Weedol | Love The Garden

Hi, I understand Weedol 2 has been discontinued. Can you tell me what it was replaced by and whether it is a) as quick drying and b) petsafe?

Weedol2 is diquat, replacing the original (ICI) product, Weedol, which also contained paraquat (now banned; rightly so).

Diquat is rain-fast after ten minutes, glyphosate is useless if rain falls within 6 to 8 hours! In our climate we can't guarantee a rain free hour, never mind an 8 hour stretch.

Until Scott's bring back Weedol2, I promise that they will get no business from me, nor any of my clients.

Weedol 2

Posted 31 May 2016

Hi MJB,

Weedol 2 was a contact weedkiller so it worked fast on contact with the green leaves, but it was not moved through the plant to the weeds roots. Perennial weeds would most likely grow back and require further treatments.

Weedol RootKill Plus is available and does take longer to work, but it will kill right down to the roots.  Weedol Fast Acting Weedkiller is a new Contact weedkiller so will be fast but best for annual weeds as it likely won't kill the roots of perennials on the first application.

Weedol Rootkill Plus needs 6 hours of dry weather. Weedol Fast Acting is quickly rain-fast... pets can go into treated areas once the product has dried.
