The season to sow leek seeds is almost with us again, so it’s time to whet your appetite for this quirky vegetable with a new recipe competition
The characteristic taste of leeks is often used to liven up soups, sausages, stir-fries, salads, stews and pies. We are challenging all British bloggers to show off their own leek recipes and have asked food blogger and Secret Garden Club host, Kerstin Rodgers, to judge the competition. The writer of the best recipe will get a voucher worth £200 to any UK restaurant of their choice, and the three runners up will each receive a copy of Rodgers’ cookbook, ‘Supper Club’.
Entering the competition is easy as pie. All you need to do is:
Bloggers who sowed seeds of Giant Winter or Winter Crop in June last year have their own fresh leeks to experiment with right now – a great advantage! If you would like to try all the lovely recipes with the freshest, tastiest produce in the country later this year, why not learn how to grow your own leeks in your garden.
Kerstin Rodgers, who also tweets at @msmarmitelover is keen as mustard to read and follow your instructions to trim, chop, slice, shred, braise, sweat or mash fresh leeks.
This competition has now closed.
