Frequently Asked Questions

EverGreen Shady & Dry Lawn Seed

Q1: How can I reduce the chances of birds eating the grass seed?
A1: Cover the seeds by raking them in after application. Netting stretched over the seed might also help.
Q2: Do I need to feed the lawn/patch before-hand?
A2: Quite often there is enough residual fertility in the soil to help the young grass plants to grow. Do not use strong fertilisers, weed and moss killers for 24 weeks after sowing the seed as young plants can be tender and might be harmed.
Q3: I have sown the grass seed which is coming up but there are weeds growing as well why?
A3: The weeds that have appeared in your new lawn are commonly occurring, opportunistic species. Such weeds often come up on newly disturbed soil, where they can rapidly colonise and establish themselves. They will have originated from seed which has lain dormant in the soil, possibly for many years, or from weed seed that may have been wind-blown, or introduced by birds. Some of these weed species will disappear by regular mowing. Others might need to be treated once the new lawn has been well established. All grass seed is examined for purity before it is released for sale.
Q4: What aftercare do I need to do after sowing EverGreen Shady and Dry Lawn Seed?
A4: Ensure to keep the area moist at all times.
Q5: When can I use EverGreen Complete 4 in 1 on my lawn after sowing EverGreen Shady and Dry Lawn Seed?
A5: Wait 6 months before applying EverGreen Complete, as the young grass plants are tender and susceptible to damage from strong fertilisers and weed killers/moss killers.
Q6: What is the coverage?
A6: The coverage per pack is as follows: 420 g carton = 14 m².
