We’re up and running!
Monday dawns and we have created some of the most beautiful gardens thanks to all the plants, props and sundries supplied by all the schools that took up the Miracle-Gro Chelsea Challenge. Thanks for all your input - I’m sure you will be as delighted with the end results as Jane and I are.
Visitors have been filling pages of our comments books and everyone has been impressed with your growing results and the experimantal plants that you have produced. One comment in the books says: “If you don't win a GOLD medal with this exhibit I will eat my hat!” Let's hope that's not needed.
Visitors flocked onto the three gardens and were thrilled with the resuts. We welcomed Minister of State for DEFRA, Owen Patterson onto the stand who chatted to the pupils of Charlton Manor School, Greenwich. He told me that he thought our work in encouraging schools to take up gardening seriously was a step he would like to encourage. In the book he wrote “Tremendous!”, it's there for all to see.
Other visotors included Christine Walkden, for The One Show, on BBC1 TV and Floella Benjamin. Here are some pics to whet your appetite.
Our thanks to all three schools who worked so hard meeting guests and talking to them about their results. Jonas and Ritika taked with amazing enthusiasm about the cabbage, broad beans and Gerberas that they grew.
Jack and Freya from Holtspur School, Beaconsfield showed off the amazing Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit characters and had their photograph taken scores of times. Veizar Kirilon and Nora Malakauskarte showed visitors the difference music made to identical windowboxes of Miracle-Gro Flower Magic. Of course the one exposed to a diet of Tchaikovsky and their unique compositition based on that work, made the plants grow biggest and the flowers burst into bloom.
Well done to all. You all worked really hard and we are gratefl for all your support. More news tomorrow after Jane has atteded the Private Viewing and I have manned the stands on Gala night.
