Pests in the home

Magnified View of a Wasp

I think we all know what wasps look like and what they do! They are a huge nuisance during warm summers, especially when you're enjoying the garden, eating and drinking. Many people are severally allergic to wasp stings.

Silverfish (Lepisma saccharina)

More disconcerting than damaging, silverfish are quite common in houses. They tend to congregate in moist conditions – and you'll often see them in the bath or in sinks.

Common Rough Woodlouse (Porcellio scaber) Crawling on Wood

Woodlice are brown in colour and often curl up into a ball when disturbed. Woodlice are harmless to humans, animals and plants. Large number may appear in your house gaining entry though cracks, doors and windows. They prefer damp conditions.

Common Flea magnified

Blood-sucking fleas not only attack your pets – such as cats and dogs – but they will quite happily feed on your blood too!

Cockroaches up close

Cockroaches are one of those household pests you don't want to come face to face with – especially in the kitchen.

Earwig on a leaf

Earwigs usually aren't regarded as a problem insect pest, but they can attack plants, causing damage particularly to flowers and flower buds.

A House Mouse Sitting on Wooden Boards

Coming face to face with a mouse or a group of mice can be very disconcerting – especially when they're in the house!
