Scotts® Osmocote® Best Potting Mix is expertly developed by horticultural specialists to deliver the highest performing mix in the Scotts range.
It gives the plants you love the ideal conditions for strong, healthy, and vigorous growth.
This formulation has been developed for growing a broad range of plants, including vegetables and fruit, flowering and foliage plants, trees and shrubs, annuals, and perennials.
When to use
HOW TO USE
Scotts® Osmocote® The Best Potting Mix is a complete, superior mix that requires nothing more for up to 12 months – just add water.
- Select a clean pot at least 25 mm wider than the original and partly fill it with potting mix.
- Gently remove the plant from its container, loosen the root ball, and trim away any rotten or completely dried out roots.
- Position the plant in the middle of the pot and fill around it with potting mix, just up to the base of the stem. Do not pack down.
- Water evenly to wet all the mix and help it settle, then protect the plant from wind, heat, and strong sunlight for a week to allow it to adjust to its new home.
ONGOING PLANT CARE
Water plants frequently to ensure the mix remains moist but not saturated. Avoid allowing plants to dry out.
To check if your plant needs water, gently push your finger 2–3 cm into the soil.
If it feels dry, it’s time to water.
If it feels slightly moist, test again in the following days.
After a year, additional plant food may be required.
We recommend Scotts® Osmocote® Controlled Release Fertiliser.
Plants should be re‑potted with fresh Scotts® Osmocote® The Best Potting Mix when they outgrow the pot or after 2–3 years.
When to use?
Potting mixes can be used at any time of the year.
Repotting established pot plants is best done in Spring or Autumn.
Avoid Winter or Summer, as extremes of temperature may stress plants.
Flowering plants should be repotted after they have flowered – enjoy the blooms first!
