Lawn care

Most asked questions about

Lawn care

FAQ
How should I store this product?

It is important to store granular products in an airtight bag or container. A lot of our granular lawn care products are hygroscopic so they absorb atmospheric moisture. The result is that lumps can occur which if applied to your lawn can cause damage through over application. Always reseal after use so it is air tight and store in a frost and damp free place.

FAQ
How long will it take weeds to die back?

This will depend on the product. Where the product claims to kill weeds it can take up to 6 weeks for the weed to die. In this case the weed needs to absorb the Weedkiller, so it can make its way to the roots. You may see a spurt of growth where the weed is using all its energy to grow as a last ditch attempt to survive, however this is a sign that the weed killer is working and the weed will die soon after. This type of weed killer is known as a selective Weedkiller and can be found in a granule or a liquid format.

Depending on the weed or how established the weeds are you may have to apply additional applications, however always read the back of pack, to ensure you are using the correct advice on how soon after application you can reapply.

Where products which state they ‘control’ weeds, they work best when the weeds are young, so it is always good to apply these products early on in the season, or first sight of weeds.

FAQ
Why is my lawn black?

If you have recently applied a moss killing product this is a sign that the moss is dying which is great news. Wait two weeks for it to completely blacken and then rake (or scarify) the dead moss up. Make sure the dead moss is not put into your garden waste bins, it is important for the moss killing ingredients to degrade before they can be put into the bin. We recommend you leave them to one side for 6 months after that time it is fine to go in the bin.

FAQ
The granules are lumpy, what has happened?

Clumping will occur if the product has got damp in storage. If so then the product should be disposed of at your local authority recycling centre, it should not be placed in your waste bin.

We recommend you only apply free flowing product to your lawn as clumps may cause over application and therefore lawn damage.

If clumps are found in a newly purchased product, please contact our consumer care line by clicking ‘email us’.

FAQ
What is the Shelf life of this product?

The date you see on the product bag is the date it was manufactured and packaged, so is not the use by date. It is best to only buy product you intend to use, especially since we test our lawn care products to be fully effective for 3 years from this date. After 3 years the ingredients may start to slowly degrade and although they will not cause damage to your lawn, they may be less effective. However you may still see results so we would encourage you to use the product and not dispose of it in the bin.
