It does depend on the product so it is always best to check the back of pack. However we recommend you wait at least 8 weeks from the date of applying a lawn care product before re seeding your lawn. By this point the weed killer, moss killer or feed will have stopped working which enables the grass seedlings to germinate and start to emerge. Applying any earlier will prevent grass seed germinating. For Miracle-Gro EverGreen Natural 4 in 1 wait 10 weeks before sowing seeds.

When the instructions on the pack are followed, the lawn has been watered in and the granules have dried there is no need to restrict grazing animals to the lawn.

If there are naturally poisonous weeds on the lawn, such as ragwort or buttercups, we recommend keeping grazing animals off the lawn until they are removed. When these weeds start to die, whether this is naturally or by weed killer, they can be harmful to grazing animals. It is worth knowing that grazing animals tend to avoid eating these weeds.

We have a selection of Autumn Lawn Care products, Autumn Lawn products are designed to support and protect the roots of grass seed during the cold winter months when the grass is dormant. It will not be detrimental to your lawn if applied in the spring, however there may be other products that are more suitable, to perhaps kill weeds or moss. In fact our Miracle-Gro EverGreen Autumn Lawn Care product includes iron sulphate that will kill moss, which is a common problem after a wet winter. A spring product will help support the new growth as it will be higher in nitrogen, essential for lush green growth.

We have several moss treatments that can be applied, our most popular being Miracle-Gro Evergreen Complete 4 in 1, which kills the moss. Alternatively use our no rake product where the moss is digested by the bacteria found in the product.

However unless the underlying cause of the moss is addressed you will have to reapply regularly. Moss occurs due to compaction and lack of drainage in your lawn, the best way to resolve this is to aerate it, which creates lots of holes in the lawn allowing the roots to grow. Not only will it be stronger with deeper roots but also thicker helping to prevent air borne seeds finding a home.

We strongly advise you to use the manufacturers recommended spreaders, since we have accurately measured the distribution of product. Hand application is also an option. However if you choose to use a competitors spreader we have developed the following test which will help you establish a suitable setting. Please note this is a rough calculation and Evergreen Garden Care does not take any liability for misapplication.

• Pour enough granules in the spreaders hopper to cover 10m², for example if 35g per m2 is recommended this would be 350g. This should be shown on the packaging.
• Set the spreader at the lowest setting.
• Spread the granules over a 2 x 5 m area (This is 10m²).
• If granules are left over, increase the setting until all the granules are used up in the hopper.
