Supporting mental health at Evergreen
We care about our people and feel it is really important to support them with the right tools to encourage strong mental health and create healthy, happy teams. A healthy mind enables you to deal positively with the experiences that you face at work or home and, if you can identify your best self by proactively maintaining good mental health, you will thrive.
We all have our ups and downs, yet if we can identify the triggers that shift your mental state we can take preventative action to maintain that positive healthy mind. That is why we have launched our mental health wellbeing programme for all our employees.
Nearly 30 staff members across all of the Evergreen Garden Care sites have volunteered to become Mental Health Champions – and are provided with Mental Health First Aid training.
This empowered community will be given a range of tools to identify the initial signs of wavering mental health and provide support for their colleagues.
Learning more about our mental health and the different ways to get support will empower our people to thrive. Our vision is to be a company where mental health is accepted as a normal part of life and where we have the skills to look after our own and look out for our colleagues’ wellbeing.
A mentally healthy community is a productive and creative community.

Finally, the heart of our business is all about growing, from growing healthy plants to healthy minds. In 2020 we all learned the importance of nature and how nurturing plants can improve our wellbeing, so we encourage our people to garden.
We regularly run competitions encouraging teams to grow a range of plants, from the tallest sunflower to growing a healthy crop of potatoes. We always look forward to healthy competition when the results come in!
