Scotts Osmocote Bulb Premium Potting Mix

Scotts Osmocote Bulb Premium Potting Mix
A specially formulated potting mix for growing all types of bulbous plants, like daffodils, tulips, jonquils and hyacinths, in pots or the garden. It includes Scotts Osmocote Controlled Release Fertiliser, which distributes nutrients and feeds for up to 6 months.
FEATURES
- Calcium promotes strong flower stems and prevents bulb losses from diseases and rots
- Includes magnesium for healthy, darker green leaves
- Includes Coir, a sustainable resource that improves moisture retention while still allowing excess to drain away freely
- Wetting agent assists moisture to soak into the potting mix and helps roots absorb nutrients
- Certified to meet the Australian Standard for Premium potting mixes
SUITABLE FOR
- All bulbs in pots, and in the garden
- Safe to use for new plants - the controlled release of nutrients means it will not burn soft leaves or tender young roots
NOT SUITABLE FOR
- Don't use in hydroponic growing systems, ponds or submerged pots (unless covered with a layer of gravel or coarse washed river sand)
- Don't use on lawns - use only specifically named lawn topdress soils on grassed areas
HOW TO USE
In pots
- Use Bulb Potting Mix straight from the bag - no further additives required
- Select a clean pot with large drainage holes (at least 15mm deep to allow for good root growth) and partly fill it with new potting mix
- Set your bulbs in place at the recommended depths on the bulb packaging. In pots, bulbs may be placed closer together than the spacing suggestion for bulbs in the garden - this will create a denser, more showy effect when the bulbs are in bloom
- Fill in the pot with new potting mix - leave a 2-3 cm below the rim
- Gently tap the pot down to help the new potting mix settle in and around the roots. Do not pack the potting mix down
- Thoroughly water the bulbs and allow it to drain freely. If necessary, top the potting mix up again to the suggested level of 2-3cm below the rim
- Keep the pot in a cool shady spot until shoots emerge. Then move it into a well lit and sheltered position
In the garden
- Prepare shallow trenches or planting holes slightly deeper than the recommended planting depth for your bulbs
- Line the base of each trench or hole with roughly 2-3cm of new potting mix
- Set bulbs out according to the spacing recommended on the bulb labels. Then cover over bulbs with the potting mix - enough to reach the original soil level
- Thoroughly water to settle the potting mix - do not water again until after shoots have emerged (rainfall should keep the soil moist enough)
