premium quality mix specially formulated for growing all types of bulbs in pots and in the garden. It includes Scotts Osmocote® for 6 month feeding

When to use

  • Calcium promotes strong flower stems and prevents bulb losses from diseases and rots
  • Includes magnesium for healthy, darker green leaves
  • Includes Coir, a sustainable resource that improves moisture retention while still allowing excess to drain away freely
  • Wetting agent assists moisture to soak into the mix and helps roots take up nutrients
  • Certified to meet the Australian Standard for Premium potting mixes

  • All bulbs in pots, and in the garden
  • The controlled release of nutrients from the included Scotts Osmocote means it will not burn soft leaves or tender young roots

  • Don't use in hydroponic growing systems, ponds or submerged pots (unless covered with a layer of gravel or coarse washed river sand)
  • Don't use on lawns - use only specifically named lawn topdress soils on grassed areas

In pots

  1. Use Bulb Mix straight from the bag - don't mix it with other materials. Close the bag tightly after use
  2. Choose a clean container with large drainage holes that is at least 15cm deep to allow for good root growth
  3. Partly fill the pot with Bulb Mix
  4. Set your bulbs in place at the depths recommended on the bulb packaging or labels
  5. In pots, bulbs may be placed closer together than the spacing suggested for bulbs in the garden - this will create a denser more showy effect when bulbs are in bloom
  6. Fill in with Bulb Mix to within 2-3 cm of the rim
  7. Tap the new pot or container gently on the bench to help the new mix settle in and around the roots. Firm lightly
  8. Water well, allowing excess to drain freely, and keep the pot in a cool shady place until growth shoots emerge. Then move it into a well lit, sheltered position
  9. Keep the soil moist at all times but do not over-water

In the garden

  1. Prepare shallow trenches or planting holes slightly deeper than the recommended planting depth for your bulbs
  2. Line the base of each trench or hole with 2-3cm of Bulb Mix
  3. Set bulbs out at the spacing recommended on the labels, then cover over with Bulb Mix to the original soil level
  4. Water thoroughly to settle the mix but then don't water again until after shoots have emerged through the soil (rainfall should keep soil moist)
