Our handy guide on what and when to plant

Growing your own veg is a really rewarding experience, a but there can be lots of information in books, websites and social media that can often leave you more confused than when you first started. You need to know what you want to plant and where to plant it, as well as when to harvest. Most crops are sown in the spring or planted out after all risk of frost has passed, but the harvest times can vary depending on when the crops are at their best.

As well as when to plant I’ve also included a handy guide as to which plants work best grown together and which don’t. Don’t forget though to always check the instructions on your seed packet or plant label and be aware of different temperatures in different parts of the country.
